A Clinical Study of the Tibia Fracture in Adult



Abstract
In recent years the rate of the tibia fracture tend to be increased year by year as the rate of traffic and industrial accidents- are increased.Of the tibia fractures treated at Seoul Adventist Hospital Between March 1975 and June 1981, the 63 cases of adult tibia fractures were analysed according to their cause, classification, treatment and result:
The result of this study may be summarized at follows:
1. Among the 63 cases whose age were over 15 years, by classification of Ellis, 22 cases were I, 22 cases were II and 19 cases were III and 44 cases were closed fracture and 19 cases were. open fractures.
2. Among the 63 cases, 47 cases were resulted by traffic accidents
3. The 63 cases were treated by long leg cast, traction, pin and plaster, 1-M nailing, Sherman platte and compression plate and the average time for bone union was 3.2 mths and the average time of Sherman and compression plate fixation was 3.4 mths.
4. Satisfactory, results were shown in plate fixation although most of the plate fixations were done in group II and III.
5. For the treatment of tibia fracture with severs soft tissue injury, primary plate fixation was done with satisfactory results.
